Studio Lighting
The Art of Controlling Light
Studio Photography like any specialized photography has its benefits, and requires a basic knowledge of the art. I teach studio lighting to individuals or small groups. My philosophy in teaching studio lighting is simple; I show you the same steps I took in learning from the first attempt, through, to some of my most successful shoots. The most important factor in studio lighting is not the lights, the background, but what you are shooting. If it’s a vase, shoe, or piece of Jewelry for E-bay or a magazine, there are particulars, or rules to follow. If it is a model, child, dog, or nude, then we start to get complicated, and the rules become only guidelines. The creative approach I take in my studio instruction is to familiarize you first with what you are shooting, and then teach you studio etiquette and the principals of lighting. Whether you are setting up a home studio, or taking your studio outside, my instruction is tailored to fit your needs is an individual or as a team. The Key word or porpoise for my class is "Studio Style". I encourage all my students do develop a style that becomes unique, and signifies you as an artist.
